Escomatic quality material can be defined as material with a smooth, clean finish with tight diameter tolerances supplied in coil form suited for machining.
To perform properly tight diameter tolerances on the material is required in order to pass through close tolerance guide bushings and meet critical dimensional tolerances for these types of parts. A high-quality finish is also necessary since in most cases the outside surface of the material becomes a part of the completed component as well.
Depending on diameter & application these coils can range in size and weight although coils with a 20”-24” ID weighing between 50-75 lbs are most commonly used.
Material grades used in Swiss escomatic machining include brass, bronze, copper, stainless steel, nickel, and aluminum.
Escomatic Swiss screw machines are unique in the respect that unlike other types of machining the tools on an escomatic machine rotate while the material is stationary.
